I didn't give myself very much room to write here, so I'll cut to the chase: copyright is broken.

Copyright has been extended, reinterpreted and butchered over the last several decades and no longer works the way it is supposed to. Current copyright law may protect content creators' intellectual property, but this can come at the price of stifling creativity and innovation by criminalising consumers and stripping the term "fair use" of all its meaning. Creative Commons is an alternative to copyright, and is something I always adopt where possible.

Please support Creative Commons, because culture is not a crime.
